Elegans: Unique bags for unique women

Elegans bags are unique, and no two bags are ever identical. They are all created by hand, with special care and attention, in my workshop in Cambridge. Each bag is created by hand from start to finish, with a singular combination of fabrics, colours and lining. In each collection there I ensure there is only a very limited number of bags. Elegans is a brand for women who like to feel unique.

If you would like your own personalised bag, you can contact me to discuss it. You can choose your shape – Ella bumbag or Sophia shoulder bag, and the colour of the material in line with the proposed collection.

I will choose the lining and strap in coordination with the colour of the bag, and your style.

About me

My name is Vanessa Saunders, I’m French and live in Cambridge U.K. with my husband and two daughters. It was several years ago when I was living in Grenoble that I started sewing classes, first making small things for the house, then later clothes for my daughters. One day I participated in a workshop to make a Tote Bag from start to finish, with pockets, double-lining, zips, a real bag! This was a revelation for me — to design and make bags!

It started as a hobby, selling to my family and friends. During COVID, my original profession of a Pilates instructor was put on hold as the lockdowns prevented me from working with the public, so I profited by sewing. I progressed my ideas and my designs further, then after lockdown started selling my bags in the local art and craft market in Cambridge.

Today I want to take my work further as a more professional, more precise and more targeted. I am happy to launch this online boutique of unique hand made bags, to propose the limited series, and a unique concept: You can choose the type of bag, your colour and your finishing. No two of my bags are ever the same, you will never meet someone with the same bag and lining. I created a concept for the women who want to feel unique.
